I'm not sure if this should satisfy your needs.
Go to minecraft.net and go to Download. Download the Minecraft server executable (or .jar on Mac). Run it, let it generate until it says: "Done". Type "stop" into the server and run it again.
Open the Minecraft client and go to Mutliplayer. After that, type the server's IP. You'll need to install a program called Hamachi which tells you the correct IP.
