I have a server set up by another person with no documentation. I am trying to find out what type of raid is installed (if any). I do not really want to restart the server so I can check through Bios.
Is there a way I can check the type of raid without restarting? Maybe a command through the command prompt?
This server is running Windows 2003
Thanks in advanceHow can I check what type of Raid my server is running?
Hello,
Yes, it's possible! Go to Start -%26gt; Run. Type in compmgmt.msc. In System Tools, select Device Manager. On the right panel, select SCSI and RAID controllers. You should be able to see a RAID controller listed. Right click on it and select Properties. For example on our HP servers, when we click on Properties then select the Tools tab, it brings up an array configuration window. That configuration window shows the RAID type and physical hard drives.
Feel free to drop me an email if you have any question or comment.

Thanks... yours was the best answer although unfortunately it did not work for me. Under the properties you mentioned it showed the type of hardware but not its configuration.
Thanks anyway guys for your answer :) I guess I will have to restart the server
