What type of Server should I use to host an Adult Video Website?

I currently have a Windows 2003 Server, with IIS 6 and SQL Server 2005. I want to be able to embed videos using a script from a company such as AVS. The prob is that most of them seem to use MySQL and PHP as preference. Is it possible for me to add the php scripts to my windows server. Or should I convert it over to a linux box? I would highly suggest converting your site to PHP and running off a Linux box.

then install RED5 of running those vids.

We have a large youtube type site running on a dedicated server of ours and with PHP, MySQL and RED5, it runs quite smooth.
You can add PHP to the Windows server and modify the SQL queries to work with SQL Server, but you have to know what you're doing.

Yes, you can install PHP and MySQL on Windows 2003 Server. There are executable packages that will do most of the configuration for you. I'm having a hard time imagining what embedded scripts would require a database (or PHP for that matter). If this is some type of packaged solution, then I could understand. But if you're really talking embedded scripts, then the whole point is usually to push the PHP/MySQL back to the original server and just have the embedded portion on your local pages (which would be html/asp/asp.net).



That said, if you're serious about hosting adult videos you should really be sourcing this out to a hosting company. Your bandwidth and hardware resources will be crushed very quickly, particularly if you're running SQL2K5 on the same box as IIS.
