What is the best way to learn to bartend or be a cocktail server without paying for a class?

I live in Las Vegas and have applied to several places to be a cocktail server but have been turned down. What is the best way for me to learn my liquors???What is the best way to learn to bartend or be a cocktail server without paying for a class?
Work in a restaurant and get to know the liquors.

Down load a bunch of recipes and buy the main liquors Vodka, Rum, Whiskey, etc... and get the juices Orange, Grapefruit, lemon, tomato, and get some syrups and go to town.What is the best way to learn to bartend or be a cocktail server without paying for a class?
Try to get hired as a barback first and work your way up by watching the bartenders in action and learning from them. (The classes are a rip off anyway)

Get friendly at your local pub and pick the bartenders brain. you can learn alot just by paying attention
Get a job as a bar boy or bar helper in a place known for good cocktails.

You will learn by working with pros. Even if you have to work for free for a couple weeks.
Behind the bar. That is how I learned. Just pay attention to the drink recipes!
See if you can be an "apprentice" or shadow with a professional bartender. For example, bartenders may be hired for private parties. Ask someone if they are willing to let you shadow them.
You tube!!
Try a smaller bar first to gain experience.
