What are the pros and cons of setting up a music server within your home?

If one is to setup a central server and stream music throughout the home, what are some pros and cons?What are the pros and cons of setting up a music server within your home?
Only con is that it is expensive. The pros are it is very convenient. If I were you, i wouldn't do it unless I had a WHOLE lot of music to stream and had the money to do so.
